The National Curriculum is changing in 2027 and will make dance more prominent in schools...

Get ready for the curriculum changes with Cheshire Dance- a dance charity and one of the leading dance in education specialists since 1976.

We've been delivering in schools since our inception nearly 50 years ago, and provide a unique, creative and high-quality experience for those who may face barriers to accessing dance- with care and community at our core.

Our approach in schools focuses on working in a person centred, trauma informed way with creative movement as the tool for learning.

Cheshire Dance is a recommended dance provider by Cheshire West, Chester and Cheshire East Councils. Cheshire Dance is also recognised nationally for its training offer for artists and teachers. We ensure that a high-quality dance offer contributes to young people’s social, emotional, physical, and cultural development.

Cheshire Dance is an Artsmark partner and can support your school to gain Artsmark accreditation by providing high quality arts activity in line with the Artsmark framework.

Our Dance Artists

All of our delivering artists are DBS checked, covered by public liability and recruited through Barnardo’s Safer Recruitment Guidance. Our artists re highly trained and experienced in performance and teaching practices and our practitioners can deliver to all ages and abilities/disabilities.

At Cheshire Dance, we are proud to work with schools to deliver:

KS1/KS2

We offer high-quality dance provision for primary schools, designed for KS1 and KS2 pupils.

Delivered by specialist practitioners, our sessions follow the National Curriculum, support cross-curricular learning, and enrich classroom topics, while offering pupils the opportunity to explore a variety of different dance styles through high-quality dance specialism. Programmes are delivered as an 8-week block and include an optional final sharing or performance opportunity to celebrate pupils’ learning and progress.

Early Years Foundation Stage

We also offer EYFS provisions to support early development and creativity in children. Supporting brain development, physical coordination, confidence, and social skills through movement, play and cross-curricular learning.

This can be booked as the 8-week (minimum) block offer.

We encourage a bespoke approach to working with Cheshire Dance, we work flexibly to accommodate your schools needs.

Here are some potential options that you can book:

  • Cross curricular sessions – using dance to heighten learning of curriculum topics, for example Dance and the Vikings, Dance and the water cycle.
  • Specialised dance forms – for example Hip hop, Capoeira, World Dance.
  • Intensives – for example a full week long format.
  • After school clubs / Lunch club (max 25 students).
  • PPA cover

Intervention / 1-to-1 / Small Group Working

Supporting children and young people to develop confidence, self-esteem, creative and physical skills in non-threatening environment. These sessions target young people who struggle with engagement, emotional regulation, low self–esteem and behaviour. They promote wellbeing tools, communication skills and confidence through movement, creative tasks, breathing and visualisation. These are therapeutic sessions delivered by highly skilled dance artists, who are not registered therapists.

This can be included in your 8-week block or can be a stand alone offer. Sessions are 20 – 30 minutes depending on group size, maximum 4 children per session.

We can provide half term, full term or year-long programmes for schools.  This may involve working with different year groups each term, working towards a performance, or providing a yearlong cross-curriculum dance programme for one- or two-year groups.   At Cheshire Dance we pride ourselves on creating bespoke projects that cater to schools varying needs.  Please do not hesitate to contact us if you’d like to discuss this further.
