This part of the programme provides provision for young people who are home educated or not currently attending mainstream school.
We run a weekly class called Step into Capoeira at Theatre Porto, Ellesmere Port. Mondays 10 – 11am at £5 a session. To book on click here.
Step into Capoeira is a session for 7 to 11 year olds that are home educated. This session allows the young people to learn a new skill and movement style, develop knowledge of Brazilian culture and connect as a group.
“This class is very unifying for our group and serves as a bonding and social glue for our children - something they all love, all enjoy and all connect through.” Parent
“I like exercising in a really fun way where I can learn new skills and do it with my friends.” Participant
Workshops and projects
We run bespoke workshops and projects for home educated young people, in response to what the young people wish to learn more about. We recently delivered a 2- day intensive exploring Brazilian Arts and Culture called Explore Brazil.
Teenagers Home Education session
We are planning to begin a new session for teenagers who are not in mainstream education in January 2026. If you are interested in finding out more please email emma@cheshiredance.org.
In Autumn 2025, we ran Explore Brazil, a two day intensive workshop for home educated children and young people aged 7+ at Theatre Porto in Ellesmere Port.
Using Capoeira, Afro-Brazilian Dance, Art, Music and Storytelling, the two days explored Brazilian culture with dance artist Rafael Braga, a Capoeira Artist. Rafael also leads Step into Capoeira, our regular session for home educated children and young people.
The workshops ran pay-as-you-feel and were subsidised through NEXUS funding from The Westminster Foundation.
